* NY Department of Labor releases the updated NYSAWW on or about March 31st of the prior applicable calendar year. Past years’ maximum benefit amounts are based on prior NYSAWWs respectively. The NYSAWW applicable to 2024 is $1,718.15 = $89,343.80 per year.

The 2024 maximum contribution rate for Paid Family Leave (PFL) is 0.373% of the employee’s annualized wages capped at the annualized New York State Average Weekly Wage (NYSAWW) of $89,343.80 per year;* which translates to a maximum annual PFL premium of $333.25 per employee. Our simple calculator tool can help you estimate what this means for your group. Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

The easiest way to go about estimating what this means for your premium cost is to split your workforce into 2 groups – those above and those below the current annualized NYSAWW of $89,343.80*. Then:

  • count your employees who make more than the annualized NYSAWW, and
  • add up the wages for all other employees with wages at or below the threshold

Simply enter those numbers into our calculator to get a rough estimate for your annual Paid Family Leave premium.

We recommend you have your payroll records handy, such as your NYS45 or payroll system reports.
