Delaware Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML) Application Window Open Longer
The Delaware Dept. of Labor has extended its window for filing applications for PFML Private Plan exemptions from December 1 to December 15, 2024. This extension provides employers with an additional two weeks to submit their fully insured Private Plan applications to the Delaware Dept. of Labor before the current window closes.
In response, we have adjusted our related deadlines:
November 27, 2024 is the deadline for last-minute quotes – this is especially important for employers who are still targeting a Private Plan exemption during the current window to be exempt from pre-funding the Delaware Paid Leave State Plan via contributions starting January 2025.
December 6, 2024 is the last day to submit applications to ShelterPoint for purchasing a PFML policy. Employers filing for a Private Plan exemption need to submit a copy of their purchased Delaware PFML insurance policy as part of their application through the Delaware Dept. of Labor’s LaborFirst online administrative system by December 15, 2024.
The Delaware PFML Private Plan exemption application window will reopen again next fall in October 2025, but employers who miss this year’s exemption application window will not be exempt from pre-funding contributions throughout 2025.
