On April 3, 2019, we closed the office early for our annual corporate town hall, where our C-suite reported on the state of the company and future plans. All our employees gathered for a delicious multi-course lunch at the Jericho Terrace.
This was also a great opportunity to meet many of the new faces that have joined both our offices: we had a 32% increase in staff due to Paid Family Leave. A little icebreaker game helped old-timers and newcomers mix and mingle over trying to find a common thread at their table. Some of the most surprising common threads ranged from loving chocolate and the beach, to being side-sleepers and hating traffic.

Fun and games aside, 2018 was a year of growth: ShelterPoint
- received 25% more DBL (statutory disability insurance, our core product) applications in 2018 than before
- processed 12% more DBL claims, and
- received over 11,000 claims for the new Paid Family Leave benefit.
