Please note: New York doesn’t provide Paid Family and Medical Leave under one unified program like most other states typically do. Instead, New York’s required Disability Benefits Law, DBL, provides short-term disability and was amended to also provide Paid Family Leave (PFL) coverage, resulting in different benefit levels and contribution rates for each program. The new 2024 PFL numbers are reflected in the chart above. The maximum DBL benefit remains unchanged at $170 per week, and DBL rates are set by carriers while adhering to minimum loss ratio guidelines set by the State. For ShelterPoint’s current DBL rates, check our rate card for 1-49 lives here (groups of 50+ lives are experience-rated).

Similarly, as another pioneer in state-mandated short-term disability coverage, New Jersey has its own state-specific dynamic between Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) and Family Leave Insurance (FLI). Currently, ShelterPoint does not offer a private plan option for NJ FLI.
